Trenton Gets Red-Carpet Treatment November 7 With Launch of Music Venue Haberdashery: Jazz Singer Jeanie Bryson sings “The Dizzy Songbook”

Combining roaring dance-hall excitement, sophisticated and fast-paced entertainment and the red-hot musical intensity of an after-hours supper club, Haberdashery takes its position as the crown jewel of New Jersey’s capitol-city nightlife scene.

Haberdashery’s November 7 red-carpet, gala premiere at the George Washington Ballroom in Trenton, New Jersey’s restored War Memorial – postponed from the original date of October 17 - promises to be an evening of elegant and cosmopolitan jazz courtesy of the show-stopping vocal talents of the Garden State’s own Jeanie Bryson. “I’ve played in venues around the world, but there is always something special about performing for a home audience,” says Bryson.

Bryson is excited about her appearance at Haberdashery’s much-anticipated inaugural evening. “I’m thrilled to be performing,” says Bryson. “Historically, the classic uptown New York jazz clubs were great Meccas for music. It would be wonderful to rekindle that kind of feeling again at the Haberdashery.”

The night has personal significance for Bryson, who will perform selections from her popular “The Dizzy Songbook” concert program – a loving and fitting tribute to her father, Dizzy Gillespie, himself a long-time New Jersey resident.

“This music was selected from the perspective of a daughter who has listened to her father’s music her whole life and chose specific songs that made a personal connection for her,” says Bryson. “It is really important for me to convey the spirit of my father’s music in addition to presenting a program that is at once personal and universal.”

WWFM 89.1 HD2 "Jazz On 2," Trenton's Jazz Station, will be the presenting station.

“Jazz On 2" is Mercer County Community College's new HD station. The station broadcasts jazz 24/7 on 89.1 HD2 as well as on Channel 26 in Mercer County on Cablevision and Comcast.

“The Trenton Marriott is excited about being able to participate in this fun event,” says Jeffrey Zeiger, general manager of the Trenton Marriott. “By providing a themed menu, reflective of the New Orleans influence on Jazz, we can create an authentic atmosphere of the Cotton Clubs of yesterday.”

Haberdashery will be a glitzy, gutsy, swanky and, at times, deeply moving nightlife affair. Jazz aficionados and casual fans alike are anticipating a delicious Cajun-spiced menu and great music to match the buzz Haberdashery is generating. Tickets, priced sensibly at just $49, are an invitation to a glorious evening of great entertainment, including two stunning jazz sets and the above-mentioned dinner.

Haberdashery, an exciting milestone in Trenton’s ongoing revitalization effort to feature original American musical artforms in New Jersey’s capitol, heralds a dazzling new chapter in and further fortifies the cultural refinement of the state’s rich jazz history, which runs the gamut from famous home-grown personalities (such as Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Cozy Cole, Joe Pass, and Sarah Vaughan, among others) to thriving nightclubs dotting all points from Newark to the Atlantic City Pier.

For tickets call The Patriots Theater Box Office at (609) 984-8400, (800) 955-5566 or online at or All tickets for October 17 will be honored.
